PROJECT: SEMANTIC-ARGUMENTATIVE STUDIES OF SPEECH GENDER: academic genres and formulaic – PROJETO: ESTUDOS SEMÂNTICO-ARGUMENTATIVOS DE GÊNEROS DO DISCURSO: gêneros acadêmicos e formulaicos (ESAGD)
The project PROJETO: ESTUDOS SEMÂNTICO-ARGUMENTATIVOS DE GÊNEROS DO DISCURSO: gêneros acadêmicos e formulaicos (ESAGD) aims to describe the operation of semantic-argumentative structures of the Portuguese language, in different genres of discourse, specifically in academic genres and formulaic genres (the business world and official). The research aims mainly to survey the argumentative strategies used in these genres, to then describe its operation in order to understand how the argumentative takes place in each of these operations. For this reason, the researches related to the ESAGD project are mainly of qualitative, descriptive and interpretative character. The ESAGD project has as base the Theory of Argumentation Semantics, proposed by Ducrot and collaborators, for whom the language is argumentative by nature, with Espindola (2003) addendum, which rewrites the original thesis of Anscombre and Ducrot (1994) stating that the language and its use are fundamentally argumentative. In addition to the assumptions of the Theory of Argumentation Semantics studies are used under the modalization discourse phenomenon from different authors, including Cervonis (1989), Castilho & Castilho (1993), Nascimento and Silva (2012).This project is being implemented in Laboratório Semântico-Pragmático de Textos – LASPRAT, Campus I, UFPB, coordinated by Professor Lucienne Espindola, to which she is connected, and Laboratório de Estudos Linguísticos (LAEL), Campus IV, UFPB.
