1) SEMANTICS AND TEACHING
The aim of this project is the contribution of semantics to Portuguese language in classrooms, specifically to linguistic analysis and reading practices. This research intends to demonstrate the connection among reading skill and semantics- such as inferences and indeterminacy of meaning -engaged in reading practices. With respect to the practices of linguistic analysis, we
intend to see how semantics can contribute to the practice of linguistic analysis, proposing the development of epilinguistic activities that allow the analysis of semantic resources responsible for the construction of textual sense, considering the specificities of each gender. The analysis of didactic material and guiding documents of mother tongue teaching is relevant for both linguistic analysis and reading practices, and the connection of these two issues with the training of teacher.
2) LEXICAL STUDIES – THEORY AND APPLICATION
Lexical Semantic is promising field because there are many theories explaining how lexicon of natural language works, that is, it explains how the process of signification occurs. : Our objects of study are: a) the discussion about metonymy and polysemy through the conceptual semantics of Jackendoff and the generative lexicon theory of Pustejovsky; b) the lexicon connections such as hyperonym and synonym and antonym (debated through the connection between Culture and Lexicon.)
