Empresas como a IBM e a Microsoft, por exemplo, desenvolveram programas de computador espec\u00edficos para armazenar as tradu\u00e7\u00f5es de seus produtos e servi\u00e7os, as chamadas Computer Assisted Translation Tools, buscando facilitar, padronizar e controlar a qualidade das tradu\u00e7\u00f5es. Podemos dizer que \u00e9 a partir dos anos noventa que esses programas atingem a comunidade de tradutores aut\u00f4nomos, que, al\u00e9m de terem de conhecer as l\u00ednguas e culturas das quais e para as quais traduzem, passam a ter de manejar softwares com sofisticadas funcionalidades. \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m a partir da d\u00e9cada de noventa que a tradu\u00e7\u00e3o, como atividade comercial, torna-se um neg\u00f3cio rent\u00e1vel em consequ\u00eancia natural da globaliza\u00e7\u00e3o do com\u00e9rcio e da r\u00e1pida expans\u00e3o da internet, que permitiu que produtos e servi\u00e7os fossem lan\u00e7ados e comercializados simultaneamente em diferentes idiomas em seus respectivos mercados (Esqueda et al., 2017). Como a r\u00e1pida comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o dos produtos traduzidos \u00e9 crucial para a lucratividade, o tempo dispon\u00edvel para a tradu\u00e7\u00e3o de um determinado produto tornou-se uma quest\u00e3o de dias ou horas, dando origem a pr\u00e1ticas espec\u00edficas de tradu\u00e7\u00e3o, tais como a tradu\u00e7\u00e3o coletiva (crowdsourcing translation), tradu\u00e7\u00e3o volunt\u00e1ria (volunteer translation), tradu\u00e7\u00e3o comunit\u00e1ria (community translation), tradu\u00e7\u00e3o participativa (participative translation), tradu\u00e7\u00e3o colaborativa em rede (on-line collaborative translation ou on-line volunteer collaborative translation) (Jim\u00e9nez-Crespo, 2017). Al\u00e9m disso, a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o cont\u00ednua de outras tecnologias projetadas para apoiar os grandes projetos de tradu\u00e7\u00e3o vem alimentando as discuss\u00f5es sobre a tradu\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica e as propostas de independ\u00eancia desta e de outras ferramentas (Sin Wai, 2015). Assim, a partir do exposto, este simp\u00f3sio, intitulado \u201cTradu\u00e7\u00e3o e Tecnologias: teoria, pr\u00e1tica e ensino\u201d, tem como proposta reunir pesquisadores interessados em refletir sobre como as ferramentas tecnol\u00f3gicas est\u00e3o sendo integradas ao trabalho do tradutor e, igualmente, \u00e0 forma\u00e7\u00e3o de tradutores, aludindo a suas inova\u00e7\u00f5es e a seus poss\u00edveis impactos na tarefa tradut\u00f3ria. Os trabalhos podem estar versados nos estudos sobre os sistemas de mem\u00f3ria de tradu\u00e7\u00e3o, alinhadores, bancos de dados terminol\u00f3gicos, sistemas de tradu\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica, ferramentas de localiza\u00e7\u00e3o de softwares utilit\u00e1rios, de entretenimento (games) e de websites, ferramentas de tradu\u00e7\u00e3o colaborativa, ferramentas voltadas ao gerenciamento de projetos, ferramentas voltadas \u00e0 tradu\u00e7\u00e3o audiovisual, estudos de casos, dentre outros.&nbsp; Ser\u00e3o aceitos para este simp\u00f3sio estudos conclu\u00eddos ou em andamento, que poder\u00e3o ser apresentados em portugu\u00eas, ingl\u00eas ou espanhol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Palavras-chave:<\/strong> Tecnologias da tradu\u00e7\u00e3o, Ferramentas computacionais de apoio \u00e0 tradu\u00e7\u00e3o, Forma\u00e7\u00e3o tecnol\u00f3gica do tradutor<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Abstract:<\/strong> In the 1980s, both in Brazil and in the international scenario, translation technologies were confined to the translation and communication departments of large corporations. Companies such as IBM and Microsoft, for example, have developed specific computer programs to store the translations of their products and services, so-called Computer Assisted Translation Tools, seeking to facilitate, standardize and control the quality of translations. We can affirm that it is in the 1990s that these programs reach the community of professional translators, who, besides building up their knowledge concerning languages and cultures, they also began to handle softwares with sophisticated functionalities. It is also in the 1990s that translation, as a commercial activity, becomes a profitable business as a natural consequence of globalization and the rapid expansion of the internet, which allowed products and services to be simultaneously launched in different languages in their respective markets (Esqueda et al., 2017). Once the rapid commerce of translated products is crucial to profitability, the time available for the translation of a particular product has become a matter of days or hours, giving rise to specific translation practices, such as crowdsourcing translation, volunteer translation, community translation, participative translation, on-line collaborative translation or on-line volunteer collaborative translation (Jim\u00e9nez-Crespo, 2017). Additionally, the continuous evolution of other technologies designed to support large translation projects has been fostering discussions about machine translation and its independence proposal (Sin Wai, 2015). Based on the previous statements, this panel, entitled &#8220;Translation and Technologies: theory, practice and teaching&#8221;, aims at bringing together researchers interested in reflecting on how technological tools are being integrated into the work of the translator, and also in the training of translators, referring to their innovations and possible impacts on translation. Researchers are invited to present their proposals involving translation memory systems, aligners, terminology databases, machine translation systems, localization tools for software, games and websites, collaborative translation tools, project management tools, audiovisual translation tools, and case studies.
