O grupo utiliza uma abordagem inter\/transdisciplinar, fundamentada na Lingu\u00edstica Sist\u00eamico-Funcional (Halliday; Matthiessen, 2014), An\u00e1lise Cr\u00edtica do Discurso (Chouliaraki; Fairclough, 1999; Fairclough, 1992, 2003; van Dijk, 1997; Wodak; Chilton, 2005), Multimodalidade (Kress; van Leeuwen, 2006; Jewitt, 2009) e Multiletramentos (Cope; Kalantzis, 2015; Heberle; Unsworth, 2013; Rojo, 2012; Royce, 2007; The New London Group, 2000[1996]). Lucena, e est\u00e1 vinculado ao Diret\u00f3rio dos Grupos de Pesquisas do CNPq. O projeto de pesquisa tem tamb\u00e9m como objetivo questionar a no\u00e7\u00e3o de fronteira, de espa\u00e7os transfronteiri\u00e7os e de mobilidade, assim como seus desdobramentos em termos de integra\u00e7\u00e3o lingu\u00edstica e social. Assim, fen\u00f4menos variados de mudan\u00e7a e de mistura de l\u00ednguas s\u00e3o identificados e descritos, assim como suas implica\u00e7\u00f5es no \u00e2mbito individual e coletivo. Dedicado aos Estudos Discursivos Foucaultianos, o Observat\u00f3rio do Discurso re\u00fane pesquisas que consideram uma perspectiva arquegeneal\u00f3gica de an\u00e1lise, contemplando, portanto, tanto a abordagem arqueol\u00f3gica na an\u00e1lise dos enunciados e de suas rela\u00e7\u00f5es no interior do arquivo, quanto a abordagem geneal\u00f3gica na an\u00e1lise dos poderes que os controlam, os ordenam, os distribuem e que, al\u00e9m disso, produzem e governam os sujeitos. Atualmente, as pesquisas desenvolvidas por suas integrantes podem ser organizadas em dois eixos. O primeiro deles congrega trabalhos que tematizam recortes de g\u00eanero e suas intersec\u00e7\u00f5es, problematizando a espessura hist\u00f3rica dos discursos e o funcionamento dos poderes que subjetivam as mulheres nos campos da maternagem, da pol\u00edtica, da publicidade e do esporte. O segundo eixo, por seu turno, congrega trabalhos que tematizam os discursos que veiculam a governamentalidade como instrumento de poder, no exerc\u00edcio de um controle que contempla o corpo e a vida dos sujeitos. Trata-se de um grupo que tem boa parte de suas pesquisas financiadas pela Capes ou pelo CNPq; que integra redes interinstitucionais de pesquisa; que tem intensa participa\u00e7\u00e3o em eventos nacionais e internacionais; que organizou eventos nacionais como os &#8220;Debates Foucaultianos&#8221; (2021) e o &#8220;Cartografias do Contempor\u00e2neo VI&#8221; (2023); e que publica regularmente em peri\u00f3dicos e livros qualificados. A partir destes estudos o grupo vem realizando aplica\u00e7\u00f5es motivadoras de linhas, projetos e programas, vislumbrando a\u00e7\u00f5es e publica\u00e7\u00f5es que colaborem na descri\u00e7\u00e3o de fen\u00f4menos lingu\u00edsticos no portugu\u00eas do Brasil e, mais especificamente, as manifesta\u00e7\u00f5es lingu\u00edsticas concretizadas no discurso do texto escrito e oral paraibano.
